Maria and Joshua's story began with a bold statement on Hinge. Maria’s controversial opinion—“Coffee tastes and smells terrible... fight me!”—was all it took to catch Joshua’s attention. He swiped right and liked her answer, sparking their first conversation on February 21st, 2019, bonding over their mutual dislike of coffee.
After a few exchanges, Joshua decided he was ready to leave the dating app world behind. He sent Maria a message, “I don’t know if I’ll keep using this app, so here’s my number if you want to keep talking.” Maria, equally interested, texted back with a simple, “Hi Joshua, this is Maria.”
What followed was a whirlwind of messages as they got to know one another. On March 16th, they met for a "quick" lunch, but the day turned into an 8-hour hangout, with lunch seamlessly leading to dinner.
On May 19th, 2019, they officially became a couple, spending the following months exploring Dallas, introducing each other to their families, & creating memories.
When Joshua landed a new job in San Antonio, their relationship faced its first real challenge—long distance. With Maria still finishing her university studies, they made the tough decision to continue dating from afar. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, adding another layer of complexity to their relationship. Despite the uncertainty and distance, they navigated it all together, staying close while miles apart.
Finally, in May 2021, after Maria graduated, she moved to San Antonio, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Since then, they’ve traveled, made new friends, and even purchased their first home together. The next chapter began when Joshua proposed to Maria on December 21st, 2023. Now, they are excited to embark on the next stage of their love story as they plan for a lifetime together.

El 19 de mayo de 2019, se convirtieron oficialmente en pareja y pasaron los meses siguientes explorando Dallas, presentándose a sus familias y creando innumerables recuerdos.
Cuando Joshua consiguió un nuevo trabajo en San Antonio, su relación enfrentó su primer desafío real: la larga distancia. Con María aún terminando sus estudios universitarios, tomaron la difícil decisión de seguir saliendo desde lejos. Luego, llegó la pandemia de COVID-19, añadiendo otra capa de complejidad a su relación. A pesar de la incertidumbre y la distancia, lo navegaron todos juntos, manteniéndose cerca aunque a kilómetros de distancia.
Finalmente, en mayo de 2021, después de graduarse, María se mudó a San Antonio y han sido inseparables desde entonces. Desde entonces, viajaron, hicieron nuevos amigos e incluso compraron su primera casa juntos. El siguiente capítulo comenzó cuando Joshua le propuso matrimonio a María el 21 de diciembre de 2023.
